Beautiful Blizzard

Oohhh, the new Holiday Catalog is just amazing. I go gah-gah over beautiful snow sets, so this bundle was immediately at the top of my preorder! The stamp set is lovely and the thinlit, well, let’s just say it is a first for Stampin Up and my Big Shot will cranking it through a LOT this season!

And guess what else… we have Shimmer Paint back! For this card I poured some Frost White Shimmer Paint in my spritzer, with some rubbing alcohol, and used the mixture to spritz my card. Talk about a WOW factor…just WOW!

Items Used:

Stamps: Beautiful Blizzard Bundle

Ink Colors: Night of Navy, Balmy Blue, Blueberry Bushel, VersaMark

Cardstock: Night of Navy, Whisper White

Other: White Embossing Powder, Silver Thread, Clear Rhinestones, Frost White Shimmer Paint.

Varied Vases & Petal Promenade

Varied Vases

This card features the amazing Petal Promenade Designer Series Paper and the fabulous Varied Vases Bundle.  The Varied Vases Bundle was co-designed by one of our very own demonstrators, Mary Fish, as part of her reward for reaching $1 Million in career sales!

TIP:  When creating your Vase to be punched out, you will want to use a strip of scrap cardstock and stamp the image at the top of the strip with the narrow part of the vase at the top.  This will help you to line up the vase in the punch easier.  You will also want to turn your punch upside down and line up your stamped image in the opening and punch like the image below.

This is by far one of my favorite Designer Papers ever and is a perfect example of why we #LoveitChopit!  This paper is so special and unique, the Stampin’ Up Home Office even provided us a video on how they designed it… and guess what?  The paper not only LOOKS like real flowers, it IS real flowers!!

This Designer Series Paper is available in our Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Special running throughout the month of July!  So, stock up on your favorites now including this one!  You can see all the papers that are available in the special in this short video.

Love What You Do

I'm Lucky

This is another card we made in June’s Handmade is Awesome class.  This card features our lovely Share What You Do Specialty Designer Series Paper, the Lovely Floral Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder and our Pearlized Doilies. Its a simple design that packs a WOW.  What you can’t see in this picture very well is that the Designer Paper has a clear embossing finish over it, that coupled with the doily, really makes an elegant impact!  Don’t hoard your paper, cut it and use it, hence the term: #LoveitChopit!

During the month of July, you can take advantage of our Buy 3 Get 1 FREE Sale on some of our Designer Series Papers. This short video highlights the papers that are available in this promotion:

Animal Outing – I’m Wild About You

Animal Outing

This is another card we made in my June Handmade is Awesome class and it features the Animal Outing stamp set that I got for FREE by attending OnStage!  Isn’t this simple Rhino and his little bird friend just adorable!  This card could be used for many occasions and is a lot of fun to make.  Just stamp, color, assemble, embellish… done.

The images are stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock, and there is a little Wink of Stella on the Rhino’s tusk to give him some “flair”.  The Shimmery Cardstock is so forgiving when using Blends… you can just keep laying that color down and the cardstock holds up wonderfully!

TIP:  Line your image and sentiment up on the Stamparatus so you can easily re-stamp if you are unable to get a good image on the first go.  You can also easily make multiples of these adorable cards with the Stamparatus too!

TIP: Remember to use our Tuxedo Memento Black Ink when coloring with our Blends!  Blends are alcohol-based and our Memento is water-based.  The mis-match of bases will keep the colors from “mixing” and running when you’re coloring.

RIP Big Shot – Have to wait for new one!

After 9 years, my Big Shot has retired.  We took it apart and tried to fix it, but the metal housing broke – for those that may not know, its the part in the picture that has the rollers and pulls the sandwich through.  We took it to see if it could be welded back together, but it would cost as much to do that as it would to buy another one.  So for now, I am without a Big Shot.

TIP:  Only use ONE Shim, no matter how many times you have to run that sandwich through – even if its 2 AM and you’re exhausted and frustrated from popping paper out of dies!!  I got away with using two shims for the Botanical Gardens dies, but when I switched dies to the butterflies, my Big Shot committed suicide and shot itself (at least that’s what the pop it made sounded like).

broke big shot

I would go ahead and buy another BUT, the new catalog has a new platform in it, and I was going to buy it anyway.  We saw it at #OnStage2016 and it is awesome.  So, I’m going to tough it out until June 1st so I can just order a new Big Shot, PLUS get the new platform included.  The $$ I’m saving by waiting, and not buying the new platform itself in a few weeks = YAY MORE NEW GOODIES!!!  I know $26 may not seem like much, but for us stampers, who are we kidding – that’s a new stamp set!!

Now the sad part… the demonstrator preorder has begun for the new catalog and if I buy dies, I cant use them until I get my new Big Shot.  However, I CAN use the new embossing folders since I have my Textures Boutique!

When I first started stamping 9 years ago, I didnt have a Big Shot, Stampin Up didnt even sell them.  Now I get to remember how to “stamp” without it – this could be fun!

Now let the waiting begin!
